What Is The
Parental Shift?

The Parental Shift Project is a six-month group and individual coaching program that puts you back in the driver’s seat of your home life. This program isn’t about making you a great parent – you already are! It’s about training the three core mental muscles you need to be happy and more positive.

Imagine coming home after work each day with a clear vision of how you wanted to show up, a plan on how you will set boundaries with work to be present with your children, and that when something goes wrong, you have the power to make it right.

That is the Parental Shift we envision for every participant in this program. The ability to choose, in any moment, the path that leads to greater happiness, peace, and positivity.

To accomplish this, we have to first, shock the system. 

The program is broken down into three phases. The first twelve (12) weeks we take a firehose approach to learning. We break this up into two phases, Team Alignment, and the Mental Fitness Bootcamp featuring the Positive Intelligence ® framework.

If the first two phases are about the brain, the Integrate the Learning phase is all about the heart.

The next 12 weeks of the program, we taper to bi-weekly meetings and introduce 1:1 coaching to taper and reinforce the concepts. In six months, you gain the habit-forming Parental Shift that will empower you for a lifetime.

Team Alignment

Week 1

Our Agreements

Welcome to the team! Together we will co-design a space that is safe, connected, and supportive. You will get to know each other, help set team norms, and build agreements that will enable your success in this program.

Week 2

Our Parent Traps

We dive into what drives us crazy about being a parent – exploring our irritants and triggers. You will start practicing mini-mindful moments as you practice noticing what goes wrong at home.

Week 3

Parenting Mission Statement

When a company forms, it’s critical to establish a mission. So why would that be any different when we build a family? You will experience a visioning exercise where you will walk away with a personal parenting mission statement that will serve as your North Star throughout this journey.

Explore our Saboteurs

You will share your parenting mission and discover what negative thoughts (saboteurs) get in the way of mission achievement. Together, we explore our saboteur assessment results and get clear about the work ahead.

Mental Fitness Bootcamp

Week 5

Breaking Down the Positive Intelligence ® Journey

You get to build a foundation of mental fitness by strengthening three critical mental muscles to shift the balance of power from your inner Saboteurs (your negative self) to your Sage (your positive self). Here we talk about what to expect.

Week 6-7

Self-Command Muscle

Through a breakthrough process called PQ Reps, you get to boost your Self-Command muscle. Each PQ Rep only takes 10 seconds and can be done with eyes open or closed. With each PQ Rep, you develop greater mastery over your own mind, quiet the negative, and activate the positive region of your brain.

Week 8-9

Saboteur Interceptor Muscle

  You get to intercept your top Saboteurs the moment they try to hijack your thoughts, feelings, and actions. In preparation for this practice, you get to expose the lies, limiting beliefs and damage of your Saboteurs, so they can no longer fool you into thinking they are helpful to you.

Week 10-11

Sage Muscle

  You get to practice the Sage Perspective that every problem or challenge can be converted into a gift and opportunity. And you get to generate the gift through the 5 Sage Powers of Empathize, Explore, Innovate, Navigate, and Activate.

Week 12

Bringing it Together

You did it! The intensity of the first 12 weeks is over and it’s time to celebrate. Here we reflect on what we’ve learned so far and declare our commitments for the next phase of our journey.

Integrate the Learning

Session 1

Learn To Coach

Here the student becomes the teacher. This session will teach you the PQ ® 7-Step coaching process that will get you to apply learning in real-world situations. As we shift to topical group coaching, we empower you to take an active role.

Session 2

Stress Management

You will come prepared to explore real-life examples of how your stress is generated by your specific Saboteurs. You will develop personalized strategies to shift from Saboteur to Sage response to minimize stress.

Session 3

Parenting Using the PQ ® Operating System

You will practice intercepting common Saboteur-led parenting traps. Together, we will create parenting strategies aimed at boosting your kids’ foundational mental fitness, Self-Command, and Sage strength.

Session 4

Parental Equity

Here we will dive into the constraints around self-care. You will learn strategies to increase your overall wellness and explore Sage strategies that protect you from Saboteur interference. We will also explore where re-designing our partnerships can come into play.

Session 5

Revisiting Your Parenting Mission

  You will integrate your parenting mission statement with your learnings, deepening a commitment to how you intend to show up as a parent in relationship with your children.

Session 6

Program Celebration & Completion

Yay! It’s time to celebrate! We will reflect on our growth as a team. You will set intentions for continued embodiment of your Sage as you define your new parental goals moving forward.
